Chenal Valley Animal Hospital

The founders of Chenal Valley Animal Hospital ( CVAH ), Dr. Kim Miller and Dr. Bob Hale began with the vision of providing gold standard veterinary care for every pet within West Little Rock and surrounding areas. After years of planning and long hours of careful thought, CVAH opened its doors August 9, 2004. We have a knowledgeable and caring hospital staff who will go above and beyond to ensure each pet receives the very best treatment, while under our care. CVAH has a grooming salon on site, staffed with dedicated, well trained, and highly experienced Professional Pet Groomers to make your pet look and feel great. • Dr. Kim Miller, DVM, Owner

I am a native of central Louisiana. I was a chemist for 10 years and at the age of 34 went back to veterinary school. I graduated from LSU School of Veterinary Medicine and then practiced small animal and emergency medicine in Lafayette, LA for 3 years before moving to Arkansas!

I have several dogs and cats (all rescues), so I don't have much free time to enjoy camping, fishing, now skiing, and flying planes, though I try when I can. I enjoy working with several rescues. I am interested in wildlife medicine & rehabilitation and have raised dozens of birds, opossums, squirrels and raccoons.

Dr. Bob Hale and I opened Chenal Valley Animal Hospital in August 2004. I believe in practicing the very best medicine and surgery, and am happy to refer my patients to specialists when necessary.

I feel so lucky to look forward to each day at work. I have the most rewarding career, and cannot imagine having more fun than practicing veterinary medicine.

NOTE:   Dr. Miller sees patients Tuesday thru Friday and alternates Saturday’s with our other doctors.

  • Dr. Stacey Smith, DVM

I am originally from the charming town of Batesville, AR.  I grew up in the country and was raised around a variety of family pets.  Like so many of us veterinarians, for as long as I can remember I have known that I wanted to work with animals. It’s now difficult to imagine a life in which I didn’t work with them daily.

I joined the staff at Chenal Valley Animal Hospital in June of 2010 after graduating from Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine. I did an externship at both Briarwood Animal Hospital and Chenal Valley Animal Hospital during my last year of veterinary school, and I absolutely loved my time at both.  I now feel so blessed to get to work with such an awesome team.  Each and every day there is something new to learn. Over the years, I have cherished developing relationships with our patients and clients.

My husband and I have a full house!  We are the proud parents of two incredible children who keep us on our toes and are our joy in life. Our family would not be complete without our sweet rescue dog and our two cats. Most of our free time is spent outdoors with friends and family.

NOTE:  Dr Stacey sees patients Monday, Wednesday, Thursday Friday and alternates Saturday’s with our other doctors.

  • Dr. Rebekah Lee

Dr. Rebekah Lee was born and raised in El Dorado, AR. She grew up with Dr. Devin Hays, a veterinarian at our sister clinic Briarwood Animal Hospital. Growing up, with the support of her loving family, she would rescue all sorts of animals. She would take in dogs, cats, turtles and even a few chickens. She quickly learned that not only did she love animals but she loved taking care of them and helping them.

After graduating from Parkers Chapel High School, Dr. Lee went onto major in Animal Science at Louisiana Tech University with a concentration in pre-veterinary medicine. After graduation she was accepted into LSU’s School of Veterinary Medicine where she obtained her DVM. Dr. Lee is a member of the ArVMA (Arkansas Veterinary Medical Association), Humane Society, and LVMA (Louisiana Veterinary Medical Association). Two of her favorite areas in the field of veterinary medicine are surgical procedures and dermatology.

Dr. Lee joined the Chenal Valley Animal Hospital family in the summer of 2017. She did a short internship and quickly fell in love with the practice. Dr. Lee currently lives in Bryant with her two dogs, Emma and Charlie. Emma, a miniature dachshund, has been with her since college and is her right hand. Charlie is a dachshund mix that she adopted while in veterinary school, he’s a bit of an attention hog. When she is not working, spending time with family, or playing with her pups at home, you can usually find her outside. Dr. Lee has a love for outdoor activities and enjoys a wide variety such as, fishing, hunting, camping, running and going to the lake.

“I am very blessed to be living out my lifelong dream of being a veterinarian. I work with some of the best people in the world and love my clients.”

  • Dr. Bob Hale, DVM, Owner

I grew up in the wonderful southern town of El Dorado, Arkansas. As a young child my parents let me have a variety of pets: raccoons, fox squirrels, flying squirrels, a squirrel monkey, a parrot, a boa constrictor, tarantulas, and of course a few cats and dogs. My desire to work with animals started at a very early age, thanks to my parents.

When I graduated from high school in 1970, I was unsure of what I could do and moved toward a business degree. I graduated from University of Arkansas in 1976 and went to work for Roadway Express Trucklines for two years. The next three years, I worked in Brazil, South America for a shipping company called Offshore Logistics. It was during this time I reflected on my real "calling" in life-- to work with dogs and cats.

I returned to the University of Arkansas to "repeat" my sciences for two years, applied to LSU Veterinary School, and graduated in 1987 as a doctor of veterinary medicine.

At the present time, I have a wife, four children, five dogs, two cats, and one parrot. Everyday I wake up and think about my veterinary mission and how fortunate I am working with wonderful pet lovers, great employees, and doing what I was intended to do.

NOTE:  Dr Bob sees patients at Briarwood Animal Hospital Monday thru Thursday.

    Veterinary Nurse

I was born in Houston, TX moved around a lot growing up. I completed my Bachelor’s degree at Texas A&M University- Corpus Christ then went on to complete my Master’s degree at Colorado State University in animal anatomy. After staying in Fort Collins, CO for a couple of years working at a veterinary clinic my husband and I decided to move to Little Rock, Arkansas. We now live in a little house on 15 acres of property. I have always wanted to work with animals growing up I volunteered at clinics and kennels. In college I worked in a research lab where I went out and documented the dolphin population in Corpus Christi and Port Aransas. I am still striving to get into veterinary school so wish me luck in September! Since I volunteered in clinics I decided to get my certification in veterinary assistant in high school. As the years progressed I was trained to do veterinary technician work.

Since working in the veterinary field I have acquire many pets. My first child is The Great Gatsby a domestic long haired I rescued while in high school. Gatsby was found in a dumpster with his litter mates at 2 weeks of age, needless to say Gatsby was bottled raise and is now a total brat. Gatsby has been my traveling companion and my best friend in my moves to different cities and states to attend college. My second child is Barnaby my yellow Labrador Retriever I got in Corpus Christi, TX can't live on the coast without a water dog. My third child is Lilo a Labrador Retriever/ Pit Bull Mix I rescued in Fort Collins, CO the breed is so misrepresented I wanted to show everyone I meet the true personality of a Pit Bull mix. Lilo is a great companion although she is lazy and anxious at times. My final child is Kokopelli a seal mink torte Ragdoll cat. She is the most precious cat I have met like a small dog in a little kitty body. Those are all my children for now my husband and I are in the process of building a chicken coop so chickens are in our future maybe other livestock.

My family and I are active, of course we love hiking we just moved from Colorado. Whenever we are off we try to sneak in some hiking. The dogs love it too though Lilo tires out fast. Luckily we haven’t hike a mountain were we had to carry her down. I personally love a good jog since living on property it is very easy for me to get my jog in but trail jogging is still the best. I also try to volunteer at the Humane Society when I am available, play with the kitties and pups. Since Arkansas has really great storms it is very nice to watch Netflix/ Hulu with my animals cuddled around me.

  • Krissy Smith

    Professional Pet Stylist

Krissy began her grooming career as a bather at PetSmart. Shortly after becoming a bather, she was presented the opportunity to further her career and was offered a table in their accredited groomer's training academy. She accepted and was sent to one of their academy training store locations. There she learned gentle handling skills and the basics of grooming a variety of dog breeds. After completing the initial academy training, she went on to complete the practical training at her home store. Krissy passed with flying colors and received a grooming certification via PetSmart. She continued as a groomer with them until she decided that grooming in a retail store was just not what she wanted to do with the valuable grooming skills she had learned.

Krissy quit PetSmart then soon after was hired as a groomer at Briarwood Animal Hospital, which is CVAH's sister clinic. At the time, CVAH was a young, growing business with only one groomer. Eventually, a second groomer was desperately needed, so Krissy took on the challenge of moving to CVAH. Over the years, she has worked hard through the challenges of maintaining her own large grooming client base and taking on new clients as well.

She is the only original groomer left at CVAH and can be credited with setting the standard for the outstanding service that our grooming clients love and respect. Krissy is also well-known and sought out by goldendoodle owners in the area for her exceptional doodle grooming skills.
